We were made to trust. That’s why God’s Word commands us to trust. Our insight is a drop of God’s infinite knowledge and wisdom. Our extensive experience, multiple academic degrees, and wisdom from advancing age, pale in comparison to the Lord’s omniscience. “This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are My thoughts the same as yours. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than yours, and My thoughts than yours.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 LBCE)
We want to understand, be in control, but the truth is, only the Lord sees the whole picture. He sees from heaven’s throne and holds in His heart the perfect plan for our lives. And what do we see from our lowly places on earth? What do we really know? Paul offers an answer: “Now, we know so little, even with our special gifts, and the preaching of those most gifted is still so poor. But when we have been made perfect and complete, then the need for these inadequate special gifts will come to an end and will disappear…we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if peering at His reflection in a poor mirror, but someday we are going to see Him in completeness, face to face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.” (1 Corinthians 13:9-10,12 LBCE)
We were made to trust because all we know is hazy and blurred, as the Good Book asserts. He fashioned you and knows your heart most clearly. Learn to trust in Him. Quiet yourself and listen to His whispers. That is being mindful of Him, knowing He longs to talk with you and guide you along the straight path.
