Are You Playing for The Coach or the Crowd? Michael Edwards
My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me. John 10:27
Can you imagine a professional athlete who plays for the crowd instead of the coach?
Can you imagine a Christian who plays for the crowd instead of the Coach? That is exactly what we are doing when we live in the fear of the man. We are walking in the flesh, giving the voice of man priority over God. This is without a doubt, the worship of man over God. The Bible calls the fear of man a trap and I can personally testify to this truth.
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. Pro 29:25 ESV
If we are confused and struggling, maybe we have been trying to play for the crowd instead of the Coach. All of those mixed voice resulting in confusion, double mindedness and chaos, trying to please everyone. It will never work. Somebody will always be disappointed. But all of this can change with one simple step. We need to set our face like flint, making a firm decision to obey the one clear voice of our Lord, the Coach, above any other voice. Both in His written word and in the voice of the Spirit. While we may not always be popular, and some may completely reject us, we will know we are doing the right thing, serving our Lord, the only One that really matters. His way is always the right way, weather it seems easy or hard. His path is always the way, the truth and the life, the only way to His peace that surpasses all understanding. Hearing Him first and obeying His direction, is only way to defeat the flesh and walk in the Spirit.
Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom 8:8 ESV
Whether it is good or bad, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.” Jer 42:6 ESV
