Beautiful Friend,
I read an article this week from the 2015 JAMA of Neurology magazine stating men’s memories go faster than women. The gist of the article was the natural decline of memory begins at 30 for all. After 40, men’s memories decline faster. In addition, the portion of the brain that handles memory gets smaller more quickly in men.
That’s interesting to me because that’s what Chris Crowley said in Younger Next Year about our bodies. They begin declining at 30.
Researching and paying attention to information about aging has been intriguing for me.
Once I have some information, I can make a plan of action. I think what’s in my control. Yes, I’m aging. I knew it has been harder to remember certain things. Especially people’s names I know I should be able to recall without their help. Now, it makes more sense.
My interest is in what I can do to make the most of the situation. What can I do to help others so they can thrive during this fourth quarter of life?
You can improve your brain skills by 150% with your diet, exercise and brain games, and meditation. You can improve your bodies by doing aerobic exercise 4 times a week and strength training twice a week. Even walking 10,000 steps a day can give you enormous benefits to counter heart disease, diabetes and other life threatening diseases.
Yes, we will all die. But what I want is to make sure that I live fully and that you do too.
I’m challenging my mind by learning lots of new things about creating a business. About how to help Boomers and Retirees thrive. I begin my day by meditating. I am eating healthier most of the time. I know about kale and eating gluten free. We are eating less red meat. And, I love exercising so this one has been easy for me. I like group classes so I go to those each morning. Bo and I encourage each other to get our 10,000 steps.
What are you doing to help slow down the aging process so that you can live your best life?
Take charge. Make a plan of how you will thrive!

Waking Up To The Lifestyle You Want
|
| Have you thought about the lifestyle you want in retirement? Has that mostly been about playing golf three days a week? Or travel to Africa?
Yes, these ideas are important but not complete enough to create this next phase of life.
As you ponder your past, there was loads of planning - graduating high school, attending college, finding a career, getting married, and starting a family.
And, finally you retire. Freedom, no schedules and gobs of time to do what you want.
No planning.
Too much free time.
Boredom sets in.
You’ve lost your passion. You’ve settled for getting by.
You get the picture.
You are not living life. |
