Weekly Broadcast to Live Healthy, Vibrant and Fulfilled

Hi Friend,

This week I have stretched my mind, or do I say my nervous system, a bunch as I've done a Facebook Live and Periscope video.

I had many anxious feelings about doing these.

I couldn’t even get the screen to switch on my Periscope and kept having to delete the videos. Finally, it was something simple — tap in the middle of the screen and it will switch. I can even do it before I go live and won’t have to delete a bunch of videos.

With my Facebook Live, I couldn’t find the icon to do the video on my business page. Finally, with some help, I was able to do that correctly and it worked.

Even though I know these tools can be helpful in sharing my message and connecting with other active Boomers and Retirees, I have been hesitant about doing them. I have done them a couple of times before, but I'm really not comfortable with the technology or how it's supposed to be done.

Sometimes the “supposed to be done” gets in my way of just allowing it to be or enjoying the process of being a novice. I know the more I do it, the more comfortable I will be. I can be hard on myself, especially when I don’t know how to do something. Just think about how much easier it would have been to think about how courageous I was to even try.

Video is the best tool to connect with others, as it helps people get to know you in a variety of ways. It's great for my business and great for my mind, and it makes perfect sense that I take the time to learn it.

I love how the Universe provides you with exactly what you need.

A while back, I joined this Facebook Live video group. At the time, they were on the last day of a 31-day challenge so I didn’t really connect.

Today, the leader of the group held a live streaming about the mistakes she'd made in learning how to use Facebook Live. It was just perfect for what I needed and I was able to hear a few tips to make mine better. These will be helpful as I do my weekly live streamings.

Perfect example of when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Today, I invite you to take some time to reflect:  How are you challenging your mind to stay healthy, vibrant and fulfilled in Retirement?  Take a moment and hit reply to this email, then let me know what you are learning or what your are trying, in order to continue thriving in unRetirement!

INSIGHTS TO THRIVING IN UNRETIREMENT

Keeping A Healthy Mind

Are you like an outdated computer program that feels like your time is finished? Or are you more like the iPhone keeping yourself in tune with the ever-changing trends of life?

Now is the time to become aware of the best ways to nurture your aging mind and for turning that knowledge to your advantage.

“An estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's disease in 2016. Of the 5.4 million Americans with Alzheimer's, an estimated 5.2 million people are age 65 and older, and approximately 200,000 individuals are under age 65 (younger-onset Alzheimer’s).” www.alz.org/facts/

Scientists are finding more evidence that some of the risk factors for heart disease and stroke, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and low levels of the vitamin folate may also increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Since the U.S. Census Bureau says the number of people 65 and older will double between 2010 and 2050, it is time you and I take charge of what is happening in our lives.

There are studies showing areas you can control what happens to you - like your diet, environment and mental activities.  (Read more)
