| | Ian d'Agata, in his superb book Native Grapes of Italy, says that "Verdicchio is arguably Italy's greatest native white grape variety.” One taste of the spectacular wines from La Staffa and you will wholeheartedly agree!

| | Today Riccardo Baldi, a young man with an immense passion for wine and a strong, personal vision for the future of La Staffa, is at the helm of this winery in the appellation of Castelli di Jesi, Marche. Riccardo has brought real innovation to the winery with the introduction of biodynamic farming in all the vineyards. This means a complete ban of all chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers in the vineyards which are now treated only with natural products such as sulfur, copper, herb teas and infusions. In the cellar, Riccardo vinifies his wines with total respect for the grape properties and for the viticultural traditions of the area. There is no wood here, just stainless and concrete.

| 2015 La Staffa Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Rincrocca
$192 6pack
The wine is refined in concrete tanks for one year on its lees then another year in bottle before release. Impressive juice! 92+ Vinous “Luminous straw-yellow. Complex, wild aromas of apricots macerated in alcohol, orange marmalade, marzipan and honey are joined on the palate by orange zest and limoncello. Bracing acidity cuts the wine's honeyed richness and keeps this light and lively on the palate, avoiding any undue weight. This is a beauty.” — Ian D'Agata |
