2013 Domaine Ruhlmann Gewurztraminer Vieilles Vignes
Alsace, France
This family estate dates to 1688. These thirty-year-old Gewurztraminer vines are planted in a soil rich in clay and limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand and the whole berry is pressed pneumatically. Traditional fermentation is through a temperature-controlled process, and aging takes place in vats.
Notes of violets, rose and pine, followed by strong, spicy, exotic aromas. Superb with foie gras, spicy food or strong cheeses such as blue cheese and munster.
