| 2012 Jean Francois Merieau Gamay de Touraine Bois Jacou
$120 6pack
100% Gamay Touraine, Loire Valley
This is an outstanding value from new Superstar in the Loire Valley! Darker fruit up front (plums, a hint of black cherry) but also plenty of characteristic Gamay bright red fruit (strawberries, pomegranates, raspberries). The nose is a bit exotic- herbal notes of sage, violets and fresh lavender, followed by a touch of grass, black pepper, and a bit of lemon that gives the finish a nice lift. It is fresh, vibrant and happy to be alive.

| 2014 Domaine Guillot-Broux Macon Rouge
$150 6pack
100% Gamay Macon, Burgundy
Domaine Guillot-Broux is an amazing estate consisting of 16 hectares based in the Macon region, specifically in the little village of Cruzille. The estate boasts some of the oldest vineyards in the area, and have all been organically farmed since Emmaunel's grandfather planted them in the 1950's. "Lovely bright, sappy red and black cherry aromas and flavors are lifted by a peppery element. On the light side but juicy, spicy and very fresh, showing excellent intensity and extract. With its firm acidity and dusty tannins, this wine calls for some fatty meat.” — Stephen Tanzer |
| | 2015 Yohan Lardy Chenas Les Deschamps
$144 6pack
100% Gamay Beaujolais Chenas, Burgundy 40-110 year old vines!
The fresh, magnetic force in Beaujolais. His vineyards are striking – with lots of diversity, excellent south facing exposure and picturesque backgrounds. The vines are not trellised and quite old, planted in 1911 and 1950. His vines are carefully maintained and are surrounded by the beauty of poppy flowers. All work is manual including harvest. As expected from his vineyard practices he allows for native yeast fermentation and adds no sulfites
93 Points Vinous Media "A suave, highly perfumed bouquet evokes red fruit liqueur, exotic flowers, smoky minerals and peppery spices. Sweet, expansive black raspberry and violet pastille flavors stain the palate and show a suave blend of concentration and vivacity. A sappy, concentrated yet vibrant wine that finishes silky, focused and very long, featuring harmonious tannins and lingering raspberry and spicecake notes.." – Josh Raynolds |
