| Romain Cornin is the epitome of the new generation that is elevating the Maconnais to new heights of quality. Last week we had the pleasure of tasting here with Romain, son of Dominique Cornin, who began estate bottling the vines planted by his father & grandfather in the very south of the Maconnais. Most of the small plots owned by the Cornin family are located in the village of Chaintre, which can also be Pouilly-Fuisse.

From a single site with more clay-rich soils, planted in 1936. This is a nod to the classic style of Pouilly Fuisse…fermented in oak with 12 months in used burgundy barrel. This has volume and power, tied with a nice little ribbon of acidity.

Les Chevrieres is from another tiny vineyard, this one planted by Romain’s grandfather in 1965. It is pure limestone and shows the more mineral side of Pouilly Fuisse with tremendous finesse & elegance. The finish goes on & on!
