| | | There’s nothing like old school Chianti!
The Cerreto Libri is aged in old, large barrels and in bottle for years before release (current vintage as of February 2017 is 2010); their wine would qualify as riserva, were they to be concerned with such designations. Zanfei and Libri are modern-day, old-school winegrowers in this tiny, traditional corner of Chianti.

| 2010 Cerreto Libri Chianti Rufina
90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo
$210/6pack
Only 80 cases imported. This is an elegant Rufina, with a touch of violets and minerals in the vibrant red fruit.
Andrea Zanfei and his wife Valentina Libri are the proprietors of Cerreto Libri, which is built over ancient Etruscan ruins and has been in her family since the late 18th century. The farm is about 10 miles east of Florence in the tiny Rufina sub-zone of Chianti, a very traditional region of winemaking. Today, the farming is entirely biodynamic, and the winemaking continues to be done with very minimal intervention. |
