Subject: ☀The Godfather of Chateauneuf ~ Chateau Rayas Sale☀

“This is one of the mythical names of France… In addition to numerous cuvées of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas produces top-notch Côtes de Rhônes from its sister estate, Fonsalette.” — Robert Parker
Composed of three separate vineyards - Le Couchant, Le Levant and Le Coeur - Château Rayas occupies one of the most unique sites in the world. The estate is surrounded by towering pine trees (“pignan” in French) that monitor the air flow into the vineyards, and the vines are planted in very fine sand that regulates their temperature and maintains humidity around the roots. This unique, cooler micro-climate allows Rayas to pick their grapes at the peak levels of ripeness, while also obtaining relatively low alcohol levels, freshness, purity of fruit and and an elegant, silky style.
~Happy to Offer~

The wines of Fonsalette are made in the cellars of Rayas.

“Light red. Sexy, fragrant scents of Moroccan spices, dried strawberry, raspberry and minerals, plus a whiff of cherry skin. Very sexy, sweet red fruit flavors are perked up by blood orange and smoky minerals, with dusty tannins adding support. Impressively pure and focused wine with excellent finishing clarity and a whiplash of cinnamon. This reminded me of a high-end Pernand-Vergelesses.” — Josh Raynolds

Pignan is the second wine of Rayas and takes its name from the pine trees that surround the vineyard as Pignan is French for pinetree. Like Rayas, Pignan is produced from 100% Grenache.
2 bottles 2008 Château Rayas Pignan Châteauneuf du Pape$249 bottle
“Bright red. High-pitched aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, rose petal, and Asian spices, lifted by a mineral quality. Suave, silky and alluringly sweet, offering penetrating red fruit flavors and slow-mounting florality. This refined, focused wine stains the palate with perfumed flavors of raspberry and garrigue. This has the juicy acidity and spine to reward cellaring but I find it awfully delicious now.” — Josh Raynolds

Château Rayas
Rayas is made from 100% Grenache. Grapes come from the three vineyards, are vinified and aged separately in old barrels, then are blended to achieve Emmanuel's vision for the vintage, always adhering to Château Rayas' signature style. With a Pinot Noir-like flavor profile - kirsch, cherry, peat moss - coupled with a peppery Mediterranean flair that is distinctively "Southern France," there is simply nothing like a bottle of Château Rayas.

2 bottles 2008 Château Rayas Châteauneuf du Pape $475 bottle
“Vivid red. Pure, expressive aromas of red and dark berries, potpourri, licorice and rose. Juicy, spicy and fresh, with sexy raspberry and cherry flavors accentuated by smoky minerality. Intense and light on its feet, finishing very long and aromatic, augmented by firm mineral cut and very impressive clarity.” — Josh Raynolds

6 bottles 2006 Château Rayas Châteauneuf du Pape $495 bottle
“Medium red. Vibrant strawberry, raspberry, anise and floral aromas could fill a room. Juicy and sharply delineated, offering sweet red berry and cherry preserve flavors with compelling accents of licorice, sassafras, lavender and smoky minerals. Extremely elegant wine with outstanding finishing cut and persistence. Not many grand cru Burgundies could match this for finesse.” — Stephen Tanzer
