Subject: The 2014 White Burgundys are Starting to Trickle In!

The Mâconnais on the Move

"The Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy has been radically transformed in recent decades. And the best is yet to come. .. a new generation of growers favoring quality over quantity has gotten far more serious about controlling yields and making wines with greater complexity, depth and potential longevity. The 2014 are classic wines … and typically show a broad range of fresh aromas, lovely definition and tension in the mouth owing to harmonious acidity, good terroir-driven mineral character, and solid structure and grip. It’s a vintage that will give relatively early pleasure owing to its balance but should age well."Stephen Tanzer

2014 Dominique Cornin Macon Chaintre Les Serreudieres
$276 case
The 100-year-old parcel in Les Serreudières reaches deep into the Cornins' multi-generational roots in Mâcon. In the same manner that these old vines labor to yield the fruit, Dominique subtly guides the wine from vine to bottle with little intervention. The Cornins use the same biodynamic farming methods as Domaine Leroy, Leflaive and Zind-Humbrecht, and the wine is fermented in stainless-steel tanks, and aged in used oak barrels. The wines is voluptuous, rich and succulent, with a distinctively fresh and ethereal quality.
