“Consider yourself an insider to even hear about this wine and ‘lottery winning lucky’ to get your hands on a bottle,” writes one reviewer. “Hard to find...but highly recommended if you want to taste Switzerland’s Romanée Conti.”
*****
The Gantenbein vineyards are located in the upper Rhine valley in eastern Switzerland, one of the most breathtaking places in the world. Close to the foothills of the Alps is the winery, considered a marvel of design ingenuity and mechanical precision — the brick wall catches the light to form optical effects inside while also filtering the light for constant temperature control.
In a good vintage average production is about 1,000 cases, of which only 25 cases will come to the United States.

2021 Gantenbein Chardonnay $1650 six-bottle-case
96 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate “The 2021 Chardonnay is deep, pure, clear and fresh on the nose that is as slatey as chalky as well as floral and reveals a fine concentration of ripe fruits. Full-bodied, intense and elegant on the palate, this is a pure yet rich, concentrated, enormously saline and finely tannic Chardonnay with a long, intense and complex finish. A great wine that already drinks with great pleasure but can also hold for about two decades.”

2021 Gantenbein Pinot Noir $1350 six-bottle-case
94+ Robert Parker Wine Advocate "What a beautifully refreshing wine for ambitious wine freaks! Gantenbein's 2021 Pinot Noir opens with a deep, pure, slightly flinty and toasty yet intensely fruity bouquet with raspberry and blackberry as well as chocolate and oak aromas. Full-bodied, straight and fresh on the palate, this is a very elegant, juicy, silky textured and full-bodied Pinot with a straight, tight, long and saline finish that reveals fine but grippy tannins. Impressive wine!”
