| | 91 Points Wine Spectator “A dry and focused white, showing concentration without excess weight, with flavors of poached apple, lanolin, lemon preserves and aromatic pine forest, underscored by a streak of salinity that builds on the clean finish. Drink now through 2024.” |
| | This second wine of Château Cantemerle is primarily comprised of younger vine parcels from the esteemed estate. The wine has a similar profile to the Grand Vin, but is ready to drink within several years of harvest. 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and aged in French oak. |
| | 94+ points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate “Tasted blind at Southwold ’06 Bordeaux tasting. I have always felt that the Lynch Bages ’06 was one of the real treasures of the vintage and this blind tasting verifies that belief. It is ripe and very pure on the backward nose with subtle touches of tobacco and cigar box. Refined and understated. The palate is full-bodied, very well balanced, toasty new oak but there is sufficient ripe black tarry fruit to support it. Great weight and persistency on the structured, dense, masculine, edgy finish. Excellent. Returning after 15 minutes I find this so elegant and brimming with tension. Do not under-estimate this Lynch. Tasted January 2010.” | | Moulis is located midway between Margaux and St-Julien and contains some of the oldest vineyard sites to be found in the Médoc. The property has been owned by the Dourthe family since 1929. Today Philippe Dourthe is at the helm producing wines of great elegance and structure. 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and the wine is then aged in oak barriques (35-65% new, depending on the vintage) for 18 months. |

92 points Robert Parker "Boyd-Cantenac’s tannic, pure 2005 may be the finest wine I have yet tasted from this estate. Like so many Margaux cru classes, it performed extraordinarily well in this vintage. An inky/purple color accompanies sweet blueberry and cassis fruit, floral, licorice, and wet steel-like characteristics. Deep, full-bodied, powerful, structured, and tannic, it is a classic, long-lived effort to consume between 2011-2030+." (04/06) |
| | $185 each 94-96 Wine Advocate “A beautiful sweet, slightly gamey nose with bright red berried fruits and hint of Medjool dates. Good definition. Very well balanced with superbly integrated new oak, good acidity and focus. Cassis, crushed violets and blueberry, with an almost Margaux-like finish. Very pretty and beautifully poised. One of the top Saint Emilions.” |
| | A real bargain from the spectacular 1982 vintage! "The general consensus seems to be that Château Chasse-Spleen is a de facto Third Growth parading as a Cru Bourgeois. It is not often that you find Messrs Parker and Coates agreeing on something, but on this point they do. When I wrote the first draft of this profile, I was rather sceptical about this high appraisal, but since then some wonderful bottles have led me to conclude that those aforementioned sages are indeed, right.”—Neal Martin |
