Bourbon and Sherry cask A semi-annual release from the Springbank Distillery, one of the last family-owned distilleries in Scotland. Beginning in 2010, Springbank began releasing two vattings per year of a twelve-year-old cask strength malt. The palate is fat and oily, with pepper, orange notes, peat, caramel, lots of brine and soft wood smoke. Aromas of tobacco, and dark chocolate, wet rocks and limestone. Warming, with lots of spices.
Springbank Campbeltown 15 Year Single Malt Scotch $115 100% Sherry cask Like a storm gathering of the Kintyre coast, dark and ominous, yet tastes so good. The richness comes from the high percentage of sherry casks used in maturation. This is a truly classic Springbank, best enjoyed after dinner, or with your favourite cigar. Sherry, dark chocolate, christmas cake, almonds, toffee and oak. Palate: Creamy, raisins, dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, brazil nuts and vanilla on the nose. Oak and sherry notes sustain, mingling with hints of leather on the finish.
Springbank Campbletown 18 Year Single Malt Scotch $210 Bourbon and Sherry cask Gobs of ripe, red berried fruit (strawberry, rhubarb, red currant, raspberry), especially on the nose, along with raisin. It’s all on a bed of blueberry pancakes, toffee and fig cake. Coconut and brine emerge occasionally on the palate and linger on the finish.
