Subject: Our New Hero of Barbaresco!

Olek Bondonio makes wine from an old farmhouse perched above some of Barbaresco's most storied crus, "La Berchialla,” which his family has lived in for over 200 years. Olek is lucky enough to work with some of the best vineyards in the Langhe. Just a few steps away you stumble into Angelo Gaja’s vineyards which produce Costa Russi and Sori Tildin.

His pride and joy is his Barbaresco. From plots of low-yielding old vines it is basket pressed, fermented with wild yeasts for 60 days on skins and aged in botti grandi until ready. Proper, old-school Nebbiolo of ochre color heady perfume.
2010 Olek Bondonio Barbaresco $360 6pack
93 Points The Wine Advocate
"The 2010 Barbaresco opens with a brooding, dark color and surprising finesse. As you pour the wine, you might expect a bolder and more opulent expression of Nebbiolo. Instead, you get an elegant and softly finessed Barbaresco teaming with life and beauty. Pressed cherries and cassis are followed by light accents of exotic spice, and a drying note of crushed mineral at the back. The wine is composed and tight at this young stage, but will flex its muscles soon enough. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025."

And don’t miss this treat!!!

2015 Olek Bondonio Langhe Rosso Giulietta $180 6pack
"100% Pelaverga piccolo—a rare and unique varietal favored by Olek’s grandfather. The color is red cerasuolo similar to Grignolino but it's the strong scent of spices, black pepper mainly, present also on the palate, that make this wine unforgettable."
