Magnums 2014 Domaine des Gandines Vire Clesse Climat les Gandines $50 each Macon, France Chardonnay grapes picked in the single vineyard called Les Gandines which is exceptional terroir. The wine is fresh and elegant, develops citrus aromas with mint notes. In the mouth the wine is very well balanced, rich, long, giving nice eucalyptus aromas, gunflint ending with an exceptional roundness. From the stupendous 2014 vintage no less!

Magnums Damien Coquelat Beauojolais NewVeau York $38 each Also in Double Magnum $88 each Gamay, Beaujolais A joint venture by Damien Coquelet & Kewin Descombes. Nouveau Beaujolais but less nouveau. A longer elevage is apparent with more balance on the fruit. Lively acidity and minerality that those familiar with Coquelet will recognize. Yum!
Magnums 2015 Roilette Fleurie Cuvee Tardive $65 each Gamay, Beaujolais One of the most admired producers in Fleurie, the Vendange Tardive is made from 80 year old vines.
Magnums Herve Souhaut Souteronne $70 each Gamay from Ardeche, France. 60 to 80 years old non-clone vines. Nearly purple in the glass with a garnet rim. The nose is an enticing array of strawberry, black cherry, plum, fig paste, smoky herbs and pounded stones. Buoyant black fruit dominates the palate and is followed by pretty red berry tones, and smoky minerality that is framed by a judicious note of wood. This is an elegant and dynamic old vines Gamay.
Magnums 2015 Domaine de Saint Pierre Les Gaudrettes $75 each Jura, France Pinot Noir fermented using carbonic maceration. No sulfur added. These are clean, balanced expressions of their terroir, and drink almost too easily that is why a Magnum is a must!

Magnums 2009 Château Citran $75 each Bordeaux Blend Big, firmly tannic wine, smoky and warm, with great swathes of black currant fruit. It is firmly structured, but it is the rich sweet fruits that are the attraction. Château Citran is one of the older Bordeaux properties in the Medoc with a history that goes all the way back to the 13th century. Today, Chateau Citran is owned by the Merlaut family, which counts Chateau Gruaud Larose, Chateau Chasse Spleen, Chateau Camensac, and Grand Poujeaux among their holdings.
Magnums 2007 Château Maucaillou $65 each Bordeaux Blend Moulis is located midway between Margaux and St-Julien and contains some of the oldest vineyard sites to be found in the Médoc. Château Maucaillou can trace the history of its vineyards back to the 16th century. Its handsome château was built in 1875 and the property has been owned by the Dourthe family since 1929. These days Philippe Dourthe is at the helm. The wine is renowned for its depth of fruit and a firmer and more tannic structure. A property on the up! |
