Subject: 🍷Let's Drink some 2000 Bordeaux!⚜

The 2000 vintage was uniquely great across the board. Winemakers across Bordeaux were elated to see a vintage that delivered quality at every level and in every appellation. In fact, one of the key hallmarks of this vintage is its consistency. The wines are deep, rich, ripe, concentrated, and expressive. They are built to age—some for decades—yet they were charming enough to drink in their youth as well. Right now, at this moment in their life, these wines are just entering their prime.

As always, all wines are sourced directly from their respective properties and until arriving to us, had never left Bordeaux.

just 3 bottles left 2000 Chateau Ausone $1550 bottle
98+ points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
“Extremely rich, full-bodied, with astonishing power, precision, and delicacy, this is a sumptuous wine that should age well for 50-60 years.”

2000 Cheval Blanc $1295 bottle
100 Points Robert Parker
â€śOpulent and full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a 60-second finish, it is unquestionably as profound as the 1990 and 1982. I believe the 2000 has the potential to be the most compelling Cheval Blanc since the mythical 1947 and 1949.”

3 bottles left 2000 Troplong Mondot $240 bottle
96 Points Robert Parker
â€śTwo recent tastings confirmed that this is the greatest Troplong Mondot between their profound 1990 and more recent vintages such as 2005, 2008, and 2009.”

Pessac Leognan

2000 Domaine de Chevalier $215 bottle
93 points Neal Martin
â€śThe 2000 Domaine de Chevalier has long been one of my favorite wines and now at 16 years of age, it continues to live up to expectations. The bottom line: it's a great Pessac-LĂ©ognan with a 30-40 year lifespan.”

2000 Chateau Haut Brion $925 bottle
99 Points Robert Parker
Tasted June 2010 â€śThe 2000 Haut-Brion is one of the three or four most prodigious wines of the vintage. My window of maturity is 2010-2050. Haut-Brion can be among the trickiest Bordeaux to taste young, often needing a full decade before the extraordinary complexity that marks this terroir begins to emerge.”

2000 La Mission Haut Brion $825 bottle
100 Points Robert Parker
Tasted 2012 â€śOne of the wines of the vintage, the 2000 has barely budged in its evolution since it was bottled and released in 2002. This massive La Mission-Haut-Brion should take its place among this estate’s most hallowed vintages when it hits full maturity in another one to two decades.”

Margaux

2000 Brane Cantenac $165 bottle
93 points Neal Martin Tasted 2015
“Henri Lurton oversaw a really quite fabulous, almost aristocratic Brane-Cantenac in this millennial year.

2000 Chateau Margaux $1275 bottle
100 Points Robert Parker
Tasted 2010 â€śA distinctive personality that is elegant while at the same time powerful and substantial, this is a multi-dimensional wine that was extremely approachable and drinkable in both tastings I had of it. The color remains a healthy, even opaque bluish/purple, but there is no reason to hesitate to drink it. It should evolve for another 30-40 years, so there is no hurry either.”

Saint Estephe

2000 Calon Segur $175 bottle
94 points Neal Martin Tasted in 2015
“One of those wines that reminds you how great the millennial vintage could be. Now at fifteen years old, it has a brilliant, vivacious red berry nose infused with ash and cigar box aromas. The detail here is a beguiling and it just "sings" Saint Estèphe.”

Magnums 2000 Chateau Cos d’Estournel $975 1.5L
96 points Neal Martin
“This is a fantastic Cos d’Estournel that is now blossoming with age. It is adorned with a lovely nose: blackberry, wild hedgerow, espresso, a touch of chocolate and sandalwood. Very fine definition and vigour. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins, superb symmetrical structure, dense, obdurate black fruits, a saline note, very well balanced, very focused, broadening out nicely towards the ravishing, supple finish. Excellent. Drink 2015-2040.”

2000 Lafon Rochet $125 bottle
92 points Wine Advocate Neal Martin Tasted in 2007
“A very dense, quite opulent plum-scented nose with briary, blueberry, a touch of hoi sin and macerated cherries. Good lift and definition. Full-bodied, rich, dense black fruits with thick chewy tannins. Dense structure, great weight and persistency with a succulent blackberry finish. Still very primal with a long future ahead. Superb. Drink 2012-2025.”

6 bottles left 2000 Montrose $325 bottle
96 points Robert Parker
â€śThis estate has frequently hit the bull's eye over recent vintages, and the 2000 Montrose is the finest effort produced since the compelling 1990 and 1989.”

6 bottles left 2005 Montrose $225 bottle
97 points Wine Advocate
“This was the best example of the 2005 that I have tasted, perhaps a wine that is going to prove that, the longer wine lovers can resist temptation. Tasted June 2016.”
Saint Julien

6 bottles left 2000 Ducru Beaucaillou $375 bottle
97 points Neal Martin
“A spellbinding bouquet: blackberries, smoke, a touch of dried herbs and pine needles with stunning delineation and vibrancy. The palate is full-bodied with outstanding mineralite and a sense of symmetry that is beyond both the very impressive 1995 and 1996. It still needs another five or six years, but will be worth the wait. Tasted October 2010.”

6 bottles left 2000 Leoville Barton $220 bottle
96 points Neal Martin
“the saturated purple-colored 2000 Leoville Barton is one of the greatest wines ever made at this estate.”

6 bottles left 2000 Leoville Las Cases $550 bottle
98 points Wine Advocate
“Buy it, cellar it, drink it.”

2000 Leoville Poyferre $250 bottle
97 points Jeb Dunnock in 2018
â€śAbsolutely knockout stuff, the 2000 LĂ©oville PoyferrĂ© is a sexy, layered, totally irresistible Bordeaux that’s firing on all cylinders today. It’s a quintessential PoyferrĂ© and my only regret is I didn’t buy more. It’s going to keep for another two decades.

Paulliac

2000 Lynch Bages $325 bottle
97 points Robert Parker in 2011
“One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years.”

2000 Grand Puy Lacoste $185 bottle
95 points Neal Martin in 2016
“The 2000 Château Grand Puy Lacoste is an exceptional wine from Xavier Borie. It has a brilliant nose of blackberry, crushed stone, graphite and cedar. Putting it to one side for ten to 15 minutes reveals subtle mint-like aromas that whisk you straight to Pauillac.”

2 bottles left 2000 Lafite Rothschild $2475 bottle
100 points Robert Parker
“Well, well, well - Lafite Rothschild does it again.”

2000 Chateau Mouton Rothschild $2950 bottle
96+ points Robert Parker in 2010
â€śPerhaps the most beautiful packaging ever on a Bordeaux bottle, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild literally produced a work of art in the gold-engraved bottle of 2000 Mouton Rothschild. Of course, one can’t drink the glass, but this is a top-flight Mouton Rothschild, eclipsed only by the 2006 and 2009.
”

2000 Pichon Baron $375 bottle
97 Points Neal Martin in 2016
“The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better. ...just...wow. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer.”

2000 Pontet Canet $195 bottle
94+ Robert Parker, 2010
“Upgraded in score over my original rating, which was several points lower, Alfred Tesseron has done a remarkable job since 1994 with Pontet-Canet, which has been hitting first-growth levels since 2003. But the 2000 also shows exceptionally well.”

2000 Chateau La Lagune Haut Medoc $135 bottle
Acknowledged as one of the great successes of the vintage and flying under the radar, the price is right!
