2011 JL Chave Hermitage Blanc Blanche $492 6pack

This negociant bottling of Chave's Hermitage blanc is made from 100% Marsanne that comes mainly from the lieu-dit Maison Blanche which sits atop the hill of Hermitag, from vines aging between 50-60 years. The terroir is very interesting for the white as it comes from a colder soil and gives aromas of peaches, hawthorne, and acacia blossom.

92 Points Vinous “Light, bright yellow. A deeply scented, mineral-tinged bouquet evokes fresh pear, peach pit and melon with hints of anise, lemon rind and jasmine. Gently sweet and chewy in the mouth, offering sappy orchard and pit fruit flavors lifted and sharpened by smoky minerality. Shows a suave blend of richness and vivacity and finishes with strong cling and resonating florality.”
2011 JL Chave Hermitage Farconnet $492 6pack

100% Syrah sourced from three distinct parcels: Diognières, Péleat, and Greffieux. Depending on the vintage, it contains some domaine fruit that did not make it into the domaine Hermitage bottling along with purchased fruit from vignerons Jean-Louis knows well.

92 Points Vinous “Brilliant ruby. Dark berries, cherry pit, licorice and smoky minerals on the seductively perfumed nose. Firm, sharply focused bitter cherry and cassis flavors are underscored by a peppery nuance and put on weight with air. A sexy floral pastille note comes up with air and carries through a long, youthfully tannic finish. The marriage of power and finesse here is pretty suave.”
