Subject: ❤♡♥In Honor of Mother's Day...♥♡❤

We would like to highlight an Oregon winemaker that is the ultimate Earth Goddess and to whom we have become devotees. In the vineyard (bio-dynamic) and cellar, Kelley Fox manifests all the qualities and practices that are life-affirming. One sip of her stunning, vibrant Pinot Noirs will make you an instant Groupie too!

As she writes “I have no end result in mind each year for the what the wines will be. I am not Pygmalion. What I am doing is responding to the essence of the fruit, which I hope is carrying the essence of the earth that bore it, along with the details of the year (the weather, the stars and the planets).”

These are very limited,
only a couple hundred cases of each produced.

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

100% Maresh vineyard fruit. 100% whole cluster.

$288 6pack

“The colour is a shining, brilliant, transparent light red. The nose is full of sun-warmed Hood strawberries and a little spice, but not the sun of a hot summer day, but one of a late spring day, with both a welcome sunshine from above and a fresh coolness like the dew of a spring morning not yet warmed. There are soft minerals in this lithe, high energy, aerial Pinot, reminding me of hummingbirds, but with a certain trickiness of Tinkerbell. The vines are old and know themselves: this Mirabai has a twinkle in its eye with a seriousness that doesn’t need to be obvious.” Winemaker Notes

McMinnville Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard

$330 6pack

If you like Nuits Saint Georges, you might like this one. I am not saying it is comparable to a Burgundy, but it reminds me energetically of a tightly coiled, almost guarded Gouges. The appearance in the glass is shining, brilliant, and full of movement. As always with the Momtazi, the nose of the 2014 is full of minerals and has a certain brine with the fragrance of exotic flowers and wild berries. It is concentrated without weight. It is powerful without a hint of bulk. The mouth has an excellent frame and acidity that is typical of this biodynamic vineyard so steep and rock-filled: not a soft, pillowy Pinot. If I were to choose the elemental character of this wine, it would be fire. It feels utterly alive and finishes long. This has serious time before it. Winemaker Notes

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard

$399 6pack

A touch of spring greenness and the tension/energy of life pushing. When I tasted it, I felt a quickening in my nerves. It is a serious wine in the mouth. More structured and more tense than what the nose told. It shows a powerful glimpse, but it is holding back most of itself right now. It is very Maresh-like in its silken-ness, but it is certainly not the heavy kind of silk. It has wings, just like the farm has wings of countless songbirds, the red-tailed hawks, and the butterflies. A mirroring happens there.Winemaker Notes
