| | 92 Points Wine Advocate "The 2014 Pencopolitano will be the entry-level of the high end wines, but for now it's the only one produced in 2014. It's a blend from Itata and Cauquenes. The wine is matured in 40% used barrels and one year in bottle before it's sold. Five different vineyards fermented and aged separately, and they were blended before bottling. Pedro Parra is an expert in terroir and here he searches for the purest expression of red granite soils; he does not want a variety to dominate the nose, so it's a multi-grape blend that includes three field blends. The nose opens up quite quickly and there is a melange of flowers and red wild berries that do not point to any specific variety. The palate is medium-bodied with incredible precision, laser cut, focused with great minerality, almost salty and terribly tasty. It's drinking well now and should continue improving during five or six years, but drinking nicely throughout its life."—Lisa Gutierrez |
