Henriques & Henriques is one of the most famous names on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Founded in 1850 by Joao Joachim Henriques, the company has a rich history and a profound knowledge of the art of making Madeira. Unlike many of the other producers on the island, Henriques & Henriques is the only company with significant holdings of its own vineyards.

A darkish golden wine, with greenish nuances. Well developed and complex, with intense aroma of dried fruits, namely raisins and walnuts, but also honey and vanilla. Medium sweet on the palate with complex flavors, including toffee and a touch of old wood. A wonderfully long finish.

Intense fresh, spicy nose with tangy citrus notes as well as some cask warmth. Lively palate is fresh and full with complex citrus peel and pith notes as well as good acidity. Lovely stuff with a long finish.

After extended maturation in old American oak casks, this extraordinary Madeira, made from old tinta negra vines which provide fruit of very rare quality for this variety. Here it shows hugely concentrated apple and citrus flavors, interspersed with candied fruit, spice and tobacco. A complex and powerful wine with fresh acidity and a lingering finish, and lying somewhere between Sercial and Bual on the sweetness spectrum. Glorious with cheese, nuts and dried fruit, and indestructible, even after opening. Grape varieties

Malvasia – Most classic Madeira grape, the richest and sweetest.
Tinta Negra – The most prolific and versatile of all grapes on the Island. It has the capacity of producing wines in the style of those produced from the other varieties.
