| As our good friends and loyal customers know, we have been supporters and lovers of the wines from Viñas del Cambrico since its inception. Owner Fernando Maillo has been instrumental in bringing the Rufete grape back to life on the granitic terraces of the mountainous Sierra de Francia Natural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Salamanca, western Spain. Maillo purchased 130 small plots of abandoned vineyards, saving many old vines, some up to 110 years old.

| | The winery is devoted to preserving the natural ecosystem of this beautiful place. Certified organic, they follow biodynamic practices and encourage the native flora and fauna. The vineyards of Rufete and Tempranillo are planted on centuries-old mountainside plots, at elevations of 2,300-2,625 feet and are plowed by horse and harvested by hand. The vineyards are dry farmed. The red grape Rufete could very well be described as a Spanish version of Pinot Noir due to its lightness, delicate floral notes and mineral character. This new release is an incredibly fresh, delicious, organic expression of the beautiful Sierra de Francia.
