Henri Giraud Esprit Brut Nature Champagne $95 bottle
Eye: Beautiful golden and blond reflections typical of mature Pinot Noir wines. Nose: We find notes of stone fruits (pear, peach), vanilla and spices (white pepper) on a base of candied lemon which gives it freshness. Then come maturity and gluttony. Mouth: The attack is fresh and then discreet and lets the overall vinosity express itself. The body, the very fullness make the structure of this wine. Minerality and light tannins contribute to a long, vinous, warm and silky astringent final structure with bitter almond and biscuit aromas. |

From a single plot ("Douce Folie") of 50 year old vines from the Merrey sur Arce with an ideal southwest exposure and the prized Kimmeridgian soil. Made in the Saignee method. The domaine only makes this bottling in superb vintages. Fresh raspberries and Morello cherries, violets, freshly baked biscuits, supple weight on the palate, mouthwatering acidity, lovely fine bead, dry and toasty finish. |
