| | Ao Yun is located in the remote and utterly breathtaking Himalayan mountain terroir in the Yunnan Province of China. Ao Yun vineyards are located in the UNESCO World heritage region of three parallel rivers (the Yangtze, Mekong and Sal ween). Ao Yun's steeply terraced vineyards sit at an astonishing 7,200-8,500 ft – hence the name Ao Yun, which means flying or roaming above the clouds.
The venture was spearheaded by Moët Hennessy's CEO Jean-Guillaume Prats, former director of Château Cos d’Estournel, and Winemaker Maxence Dulou, who previously worked at Château Quinault l'Enclos. This is a partnership that includes 120 Tibetan farmers, who have been growing grapes in this region for hundreds of years. 100% of the vineyard's processes are done by hand and cultivated organically. Together, this collective has embarked on an incredibly ambitious and challenging journey to create China's first top-quality, luxury wine.

| Happy to Offer 2013 Ao Yun Red Blend $285 bottle Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc 93 Points, Wine Advocate: “This 2013 Ao Yun is a new star of China! The vineyard is backed by LVMH in Shangri-La, at the edge of the Himalayas. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates this wine with 90%, the other 10% is Cabernet Franc. 2013 is the first vintage. It is opaque, with a very deep ruby color. Elegant and restrained in style, it reveals scents of bell pepper, blackcurrant, prune and blackberry with subtle hints of dark chocolate, clove, tobacco and licorice. Refreshing on the palate, full-bodied and with very silky tannins, it has great concentration, perfect structure and a very long finish.” Tasting date: May 17, 2017, Liwen Hao
