Subject: ♥Attention Rhone and Burgundy Fans!♥

It is not often the spotlight shines on German red wines, and most of the time for good reason, but we must say that Hanspeter Ziereisen's wines have consistently been amongst the exceptional exceptions. He has an affinity for Pinot Noir and Syrah, focusing his work on reducing yields and crafting elegant wines of purity and resonance.

'Schulen' Pinot Noir is matured for 20 months in French barriques (20% new), and mainly destemmed. It is a beautifully perfumed rendition of Pinot, with an intricate mouthfeel, depth and persistence on a par with Burgundy Premier Cru. No exaggerations here.

'Gestad' Syrah also speaks with a French accent, with its brambly blackberry fruit surrounded by a smoky eucalyptus lift. It slowly reveals its meatiness in the glass, very much in-line with its northern-Rhone counterparts. Tannins are soft and resolved, ending on a mild tobacco note.

Syrah is such a rarity in Germany, let alone this good!
