1 magnum 2005 Matrot Puligny Montrachet Les Chalumeaux $155 Stellar vintage from a top house! Bright, focused and as most “experts” have assessed, ready to start drinking in 2017!
5 magnums 2013 Bitouzet Prieur Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes $168 “Comely Meursault from one of the Village's prime patches of dirt. Les Charmes is known to give some of the most oppulent Chardy in Burgundy. The cool, low-yielding 2013 vintage helped to keep things a bit tighter and sharper. Vibrant and electric now, we suspect these mags will reward a few years in the cellar.” — MS

Sexy, highly perfumed scents of red fruit liqueur, candied flowers and five-spice powder, along with a smoky mineral topnote. Sappy, deeply concentrated raspberry and rose pastille flavors show impressive energy and are complicated by a suggestion of Asian spices that gains power in the glass. At once powerful and lithe, finishing very long, with impressive focus and silky, harmonious tannins.”

2 magnums 2007 Chateau Maucaillou Moulis $65 each Moulis is located midway between Margaux and St-Julien and contains some of the oldest vineyard sites to be found in the Médoc. Château Maucaillou can trace the history of its vineyards back to the 16th century. Its handsome château was built in 1875 and the property has been owned by the Dourthe family since 1929. These days Philippe Dourthe is at the helm. The wine is renowned for its depth of fruit and a firmer and more tannic structure. A property on the up!
2 magnums 2009 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte $475 each 100 Points Robert Parker “The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. A gorgeous expression of Pessac-Leognan with sweet tannin, emerging charm and delicacy, and considerable power, depth, richness and authority, it should age effortlessly for 30-40+ years. Bravo!”
1 magnum 2011 Les Hauts de Smith Pessac Leognon $75 Second Label from Smith Haut Lafitte, a real gem and at a fraction of the price of his big brother!

2 magnums 2010 Costanti Brunello di Montalcino $185 each 97 Points Antonio Galloni “Costanti's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is stunning. Dark, powerful and mysterious in the glass, the 2010 captivates all the senses with its breathtaking beauty and layered, multi-dimensional personality. Lavender, violets, savory herbs, smoke, plums and graphite flow through to the rich, explosive finish. There is a prism-like sense of transparency allied to pure power in the 2010 that is impossible miss. Readers who can find the 2010 should not hesitate; it is a must-have. While many 2010s are approachable today, the Costanti's 2010 is not; it is a wine for the cellar.”
1 Double Magnum 2006 Pertimali Sassetti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva $520 owc 93 points Wine Spectator: “Licorice, tar, black cherry and plum aromas and flavors highlight this robust, chewy red. This is concentrated and intense, with all its components in the right proportions for a long evolution. Stiff tannins are matched by sweet fruit on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2027.” - BS
1 magnum 2014 Ornellaia Essenza $525 owc “2014 was one of the most demanding years in memory of, and has allowed us to produce high quality wines that are offering great delight. What is particularly striking is the high quality of the tannins on the palate: silky, refined, without rough edges. This year represents the heart of the estate, Ornellaia’s ‘Essence’: its natural style, the exceptional quality of its terroir, and the competence of those who work in the vineyards and the cellar.” — Winemaker’s Notes
2 magnums 2009 Brovia Barolo Ca Mia $185 each owc 94+ Points Stephen Tanzer “Bright red. Captivatingly fresh, primary aromas of raspberry, minerals and flowers are accented by a sappy note of blood orange; reminded me a bit of a topnotch Burgundy from Vosne or Chambolle. Sweet and thick but with lovely acidity giving the wine a strong impression of inner-mouth tension. A step up in density and fullness from the foregoing wines, with its Serralunga limestone pungency coming through loud and clear. Finishes very long and horizontal, with serious but well-buffered tannins and excellent menthol lift. Wonderfully elegant and perfumed Barolo from a south/southeast-facing vineyard that is spared the hottest afternoon sun.”
1 magnum 2007 Rovellotti Ghemme Chioso dei Pomi $99 The Rovellotti family traces its roots in the Ghemme to the latter stages of the 15th century. Ghemme, located in the north-western Piedmont region, is a town of ancient tradition. Ghemme is 85% Nebbiolo and 15% Vespolina. The wine is aged in large barrels of Slavonian oak for the first twelve months after harvest and then is racked into smaller five hectoliter barrels for an additional eighteen months. The various parts of the wine are assembled and blended together in the spring of the third year. After bottling, the wine is aged in bottle at least nine additional months before release. Holy mackerel ~ It is delicious!!

Sexy mineral- and spice-accented cherry and black raspberry scents show very good clarity and a suave floral nuance. Pliant red and dark berry flavors expand in the glass, picking up hints of cola, woodsmoke and vanilla bean. Closes with repeating spiciness, supple tannins and excellent clarity, leaving a juicy blackberry note behind.”
