The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is the direct extension towards the East of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau. The terroir is known to offer generous fruity wines with minerality and structure similar to the more expensive wines from its renown neighbor, Saint-Emilio.
The 30 years old vines of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on well exposed clay and limestone slopes located to the East of the Saint Emilion appellation.
THE WINE
Grape varieties: Merlot 95%, Cabernet Franc 5%
The wine is vinified and aged in concrete tanks for 18 months allowing the pure expression of the fruit.
TASTING NOTES
Color: Dark purple.
Aromas: Floral nose with dark cherries, blueberries and blackberries.
Palate: Full and soft attack on the palate with black cherries, currants, dark cocoa notes and firm tannins. Lingering finish.
Pairing: Serve alongside duck, lamb, patés or beef roast!
