95 Points, James Suckling
So much blackberry and black cherry with brambleberry and bark undertones. Full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and polished tannins. Classy and structured with polish and focus. Some crushed black pepper and dark chocolate. Needs time to soften. Best after 2026.
Previously Chateau Croix Figeac, it changed its name to Pierre 1er, as a tribute to the current owner’s father, Pierre Dutruilh. From a family owned property located near Figeac, and near the Pomerol border, comes an unbeatable value, with a rather modern style. |
