JAUMA is the brain child of uber-talented trio Fiona Wood (vineyard management), James Eskrine and Mark Warner (Winemaking). The three have a wealth of knowledge in soil science and grape growing, along with their backgrounds in the culinary arts and service.
This really sums the whole Jauma thing up for me: They are smart wines made with a vision, considering food and enjoyment, expressive of their origins and methods. Across the board, they like to keep the wines as easy to swirl and contemplate , as they are to simply knock back for a good time. None of the wines are the thick and boozy Aussie wines we've become familiar with, but instead they are rather vibrant and juicy wines, with savory undertones and remarkable purity.
We get one crack at ordering these per vintage, and there are only a few bottles left!
