Subject: ✦ Burgundy Underground - SEXTANT ✦

Julien Altaber teamed up with Dominique Derain in 2007 to create SEXTANT, a very small négoce based in St Aubin.

For the first few vintages, Julien was making the Sextant wines on a handful of fermenters stashed in a corner of Derain's cellar, but he finally moved to a small building right across the street from his mentor's property, in the heart of St Aubin. We just got word the new vintages arrived yesterday and are very exited to offer these to you. The Sextant wines are wines of levity and verve, with purity and clarity as the focus and never spend time in new oak. Please note quantities are very scarce, there are only about 10 cases each of these wines in New York.

We might not be able to fill all orders, but we'll do our best!

- HAPPY TO OFFER! -

Bourgogne Blanc 2016 $520 case
40/50 years old Chardonnay from Vincent Talbot in Northern Mâconnais grown in clay/limestone terroirs. Long fermentation til end of June, then bottled in October with only 10mg of SO2. (10 cases imported)

Bourgogne Rouge 2016 $480 case
Usually from his own fruit in Pommard, the 2016 Spring frost left him at harvest with only 9 baskets of fruit!!! So for this 2016 vintage, he bought some fruit from Sébastien Boissot in the Mâconnais, same vinification style for all his reds so 20/30% destemmed in the bottom, whole cluster on top for about 2 weeks of maceration, also bottled in October with 10mg of SO2 before the bottling. (10 cases imported)

St Aubin 1er Cru 2015 $360 for a 6 pack
Sextant was born because of Jean-Jacques Morel as he was selling his beautiful Premier Cru fruit to Domaine Naively. Dominique & Julien agreed that fruit grown with such work & passion had to be rescued from being mixed up at this Faiveley's large operation. They made a commitment to source their fruit from two Premier Cru plots with dominant limestone terroir. With the 2015 vintage, the aging went on for 18 months and was racked only once during the 2016 harvest. (2 cases imported)

Maranges 2016 Magnums $100 per Magnum
Change this year for this cuvée, as the fruits were coming from Domaine Rouge Queues so far, now coming from Pierre Clerc from Domaine Clair Obscur. Pierre was the chef de culture at Domaine des Montilles before coming back to the family estate. 40/50 years old vines, the usual 30% destemmed and aged 12 months with 10mg of SO2 at racking. (5 cases imported)
