| | | 2010 Chateau Canon (Saint-Émilion) $2160 case original wood cases Direct from Bordeaux This is a truly profound wine born from exceptional terroir, in an exceptional vintage, and produced with no expense spared. Canon’s velvety, silky style originates from the magical way its grape varieties (75% Merlot / 25% Cab Franc) benefit from this blessed terroir. Situated on the very top of the Saint-Emilion plateau, this limestone-rich soil containing fossilized matter makes wines that are fresh, elegant, and complex, with a remarkable capacity for ageing. When coupled with ownership ambition to make the best wine possible with a spare-no-expense attitude, the results are truly stunning. Enjoying Canon usually requires patience, however the hard part is finally over. This wine has started to reveal its noble and profound qualities (as evidenced by substantially improved ratings bestowed last year). After a decade-long slumber, this 2010 is open for business.

| 96+pts Wine Advocate (Mar 2020, Lisa Perotti-Brown): “Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Canon features wonderfully expressive notes of dried mulberries, stewed plums and baked black cherries with hints of mocha, bay leaves and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, opulent and suer spicy, it has a plush texture with a racy line supporting the hedonistic fruit, finishing with jaw-dropping persistence.”
96pts James Suckling (Feb 2013): “Wonderful nose with strawberries, cherry blossom, and vanilla. The red opens up with blueberries, milk chocolate and sweet licorice. Full and juicy on palate with pure dark fruit and velvety tannins. So nicely layered texture and long in the finish with red fruit and crushed chalk. The texture is superb. Drink from 2018.”
