Subject: What CAN YOU DO?

Hi Friend!

Today is the beginning of the World Cup Semifinals at 2pm.
Tomorrow is the 2nd half of the semifinals, also at 2pm.
Saturday, is the "3rd place game" at 11am.
and
Sunday is the finals @ 11am.

You may or may not care about soccer, following sports or watching t.v., but what you do care about is your health and your time.

You care so much, that I'm guessing you've said both of the following statements to yourself.

I can't.
I can.

If you did care about the game, you might say, I can't watch because it's at 2pm, in the middle of a work day.

If you did care, about the game, you might also say, I can watch because it's at 2pm, in the middle of a week day.

You might also add, "because" following, "I can't" and "I can" to give a reason why you can't or can do something.

This "because" and the world cup are the inspirations for today's writing.

I bet your July is looking pretty full right now.  Lots of things happening in your world this month and your days and times are filling up just like the days were full of sunshine last week.

If you've attempted to plan things and you notice your schedule being full, you may be having to choose between equally valued things.  You may have to compromise.  Something may have to go.  Somethings may have to get moved.  Somethings may have to be shortened in time.  That sure is a nice problem to have, choosing between valued things.

A question you may have asked yourself is,
"how can I..." do something.

That's a good question.

Another good question is,
"what can I do".

Health as you know is super important.  Right now we all have a lot of it, but if we don't keep replenishing our reserves, one day, we'll find ourself making withdrawals of health we can't spare, which will put us in a compromised state, which makes us vulnerable to illness, sickness, disease, injury, mistakes, regrets, missed opportunities, ... a lot of unpleasant things.

Have you ever prayed to the porcelain god?
If yes, did you ever make a deal like this, "if/when I get better, I'll never do 'X' again!"
If you made that deal, you know how important health is.

Have you ever been injured?  Had to miss out on things you love, enjoy, are important to you, work?
If yes, remember how awful it felt, and you just wanted to be normal.

(I'm coming in for the close)

When life is full and your blessed because you chose all those things, remember to still and always prioritize your health.  Make time for you.  No one ever says, I regret working out / resting / making time for myself.

Ask yourself,

What can I do?

That's a great question to prime your brain and unlock limitless realistic ideas that fit whatever scenario you're facing.  They might not be as awesome as if you had a best case situation, but they sure check the box for "did you do something for your health today?  did you exercise today?  did you make time for / do self-care today?" and when you reflect back on your day, you'll feel good knowing you did something and that feel good feeling is a win.  Stack those wins together daily and build momentum until you're a force to be reckoned with, living on happy hormone highs, while dominating life in a proactive, responsive and calm way with a warm smile across your face and an easy laugh to keep things light.

Asking myself questions to fit soccer in this week while not sacrificing other important priorities,

Coach Mike

p.s.  if I can help you get better, reply and let me know!
