Gorgeous day to you Friend!
Gosh, I came across the Serenity Prayer and it resonated with me. Playing and following sports my whole life and being raised by a loving village, people always talk about controlling the things you can control and not worrying about the things you can't. You've heard this too. It's not new news. Yet, when someone mentioned the serenity prayer in conversation recently and what it was, I loved it. I hadn't heard it before and maybe you haven't either.
Serenity Prayer as referenced on Wikipedia:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
No one knows what the future is going to bring. We can guess and we can predict, we can see trends and we can speculate, but nobody knows for certain. The only thing you and I can control is ourselves, the information coming in and the actions going out: what we read, listen to and watch; who we spend time around and what we consume; our thoughts, our choices, our behaviors our decisions our actions and our words are all the things we have control over.
Outside of an educated guess and well researched data, the best chances of predicting the future as it pertains to us, is to manifest it (shout out to my Vanessa's vision board) and to be the change (shout out to Ghandi).
Control What You Can Control
What goes on your plate
what goes in your mouth
when you stop
what you drink
how much you eat
how much you drink
when you eat or drink
whether you eat in front of a screen or not
when you go to sleep
what you do before going to sleep
when you wake up
how often you move
whether movement is a priority for you
whether you show up
whether you plan to bring your best effort
whether you part your heart into it
whether you passively rest or actively rest
whether you're going to hit your cardio goal or not
There's so much you can control that influences so much more. And it's not difficult. It's been done before by many people.
At one time, no one thought it was possible to run a mile in under 4 minutes. Then someone did it and showed it was possible.
You brush your teeth everyday right? If you've been around little kids you know that it's not always easy to get them to brush everyday (or rinse, or flush or a lot of things...), but you know in the end they'll get it.
Have the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference between the two.

CYBBC's Top 20 1-Mile Indoor Run Times
Recently, Jennifer Cullen (formerly O'Leary) was training with us and I gave a shout out to her for co-owning the indoor 60sec shuttle run record of 16 lengths with many other women including Mich Crowley and then I gave a shout out to her husband, Paul Cullen for formerly having the male indoor 1-mile time record, but I didn't give Pete recognition for having held the indoor 1-mile time record, as he was training in the same class as Jen that night.
First things first. Pete I'm sorry for not recalling and honoring your awesome achievement. In fact it was such an oversight, that I wanted to show how glaring of a mistake it was. Below is our top 20 list of fasted indoor 1-mile times for all genders.
Anyone notice anything? Like maybe Pete has 10 of the top 20 fastest times.
