Subject: Part 2: How do you get back on the wagon?

Hi Friend!

Happy holiday weekend to you!

Yesterday I shared what I do to get back on track when I fall of the wagon and so far the feedback has been great.  It sure feels good to be able to help and contribute to others and many people shared wonderful comments, but only 1 so far offered to share what he does when he falls of his routine.

Enter Ricardo:

"For me the worst (and the best) time is when I get friends and family staying with us. It is great to have people at the house from Brazil, but with that comes the BBQs, eating out, late nights, wines, etc. I literally can get 10 pounds in a weekend on this schedule. I normally tend to feel bad the day after I overate or did not rest enough.

So I try to focus on getting back to the nutrition plan and drop those pounds as quick as I can. I normally decrease my lunch portions a little to help. I cut red meat and focus on the fish, protein shakes, vegetables (a lot), nuts and legumes. Another think that help is cut all the salt I can from the diet to avoid liquid retention and feeling even more bloated.

I also try to increase a little the cardio minutes (over 300) and do not skip my sport events (soccer and basketball games).

Cheers!!!!"

It's fantastic.  Before I summarize his points, I'd first like to share a little background on Ricardo from his recent Yelp & FB Reviews.

CYBBC was really a life changing experience me. I was always a very active person (soccer, gym, swimming, etc), but as most people, after getting married and having kids, things change and all that stops. I gained a lot of weight in the last 10 years and after seeing my cholesterol rising close to 250, I knew I had to do something about it. In December 2016 I started looking for a way to lose weight and getting back in shape. I knew a normal gym would not work for me, I needed motivation and guidance (I was afraid of getting injured too). So after a lot of research, I found CYBBC. Mike offers a free week to try before you commit, so I had nothing to lose. After the first day I knew that it was exactly what I needed, and I signed up in January 2017.
Since then, I lost 43 pounds and went from 23 to 13% body fat during the last 9 months. I also improve my running from basically almost dying after 1 mile to being able to run 10 miles on a good pace. I am in a better shape than I was in my 20's (I am 38 now). And, more importantly, my cholesterol is back to 150!!!!

Mike does a great job keeping you motivated and focused on reaching your goals. He is a great coach and the people there are very supportive and friendly. I joined many gyms and had personal trainers in the past, but nothing compares with the experience that CYBBC provides.I feel bad if I have to miss a class (even at 6 am in the morning)

Fun, intensive and effective!!!

So Ricardo joined in January of this year looking to lose weight after relocating from a different country with a family and getting out of his routines.  He's clearly an outlier to me, based on his mindset, efforts and results, so when he shares what he does to get back on track, it carries weight because it's working.

Ricardo's Strategies to Get Back On The Wagon

  • He gets back on his nutrition plan (he was weight loss and now he's performance) to make the change As Fast As Possible!
  • He adjusts portion sizes at lunch.
  • He cuts out red meat.
  • He focuses on fish, protein shakes, vegetables (a lot), nuts and legumes.
  • He cuts salt to avoid liquid retention and bloating.
  • He increases his cardio minutes to over 300 (his goal is 175+).
  • He does not skip his sports (soccer & basketball games).

So in the short term, when you choose to stop following your plan or routine to participate more fully in different things, you basically get back on your plan by starting with the simple stuff and building from there.  It's kind of fun.  I'm sure Ricardo still eats red meat and uses salt and doesn't always hit 300minutes of cardio, but in the immediate short term those are some things he does to get back on track a.s.a.p.

I hope you have a great weekend.  Enjoy fully, partially or not at all breaking from your routine and then either way, be sure to set yourself up for a great week and if needed get back on track as fast as possible.
