Subject: Legumes: research is catching up

Hi Friend,

Dr. Tom Halton, author of The weight loss triad (the inspiration for CYBBC's nutrition plan), wrote a summary on legumes from a recent research article, from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Its been our secret weapon for weight loss since I read about it in the 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferriss, back in 2011, and tried it and had clients try it. It surprisingly works well and fast.

The research suggested 1 serving per day yielded an extra 0.75lbs. of weight loss on average per subject over 6 weeks. That seems like effective insurance for such a small dose and habit and if you continued it for a full 52 weeks its about 6.5lbs. of extra weight loss just from eating 1 serving per day.

I recommended 1/2 cup (or 1 cupped hand) per meal in our weight loss plan, which combined with everything else may be why some members have had such fast changes.

Here's Tom's summary:

The easiest way to add legumes is to buy boxed or canned black beans, pinto, kidney, cannelli, navy, garbanzo... and serve them as a side dish. If your tight for time eat out of the box. If you want to add flavor, sprinkle salt & pepper. Most every restaurant has them and can serve a side if you ask.

Thinking long term.
