Subject: Grit vs. Guts and P7, W3 Cardio Minutes

Hi Friend!

Great day to you!  Man did I earn some serious grit points today.  Between the internal battle of voices in my head prior to doing the challenge workout and the challenge of actually doing the 7 course challenge workout, it was tough.  And I did it.  So boo-yeah, chest bump, high fives all around.  I'd give you the sweatiest hug you've had in a long time, but I've already showered, so your safe.

Grit vs. Guts
On another note I was having a conversation with a client today about Grit vs. Guts.

Grit = doing things, working the process or loving the process, regardless of whether or not you have the confidence or belief in your guts that it'll work.

Guts = you believe in your gut, everything will work out.

Grits won in this conversation and here's why.

You can have supreme confidence and belief, brewing all the way down in your guts that you'll achieve whatever outcome you're believing, however if you do no action taking, there's a great chance nothing will happen.

Grit on the other hand requires you to actually do something regardless of whether or not you feel confident it'll happen or whether or not you feel like it.  You can believe you'll lose weight, decrease your body fat %, get in shape, get stronger (e.g. do pull ups, push ups, 1-leg pistol squats), get faster, improve your mobility (graduate from RFE Split Squats and Alternate Back to Wall Shoulder Flexion), set a PR (shuttle run, push ups, frog squats, side plank and mile run) and/or other personal goals all you want, but if you don't put in the work by executing the process and measuring so you can manage, then it's all fantasy and dreams.

Here's the kicker.  You don't have to have the confidence you'll be successful.  That's why you hired me.  I'll believe in you even if you don't.  You tell me what you want and I'll help you map out a plan.  Then you work the progress, we'll measure and manage along the way and in the end you should achieve your goals, while having fun along the way and developing guts if they weren't there to begin with.

3 P's of Guts vs. Grits Summary

Guts w/o Grit = Pointless

Grit w/o Guts = Possible

Guts w/ Grit = Probable
