Subject: Greetings from the Row Hotel!

Greetings Friend, from the Row Hotel @ Assembly Row!

I'm here for another (2) workshops (FMS 2 and FCS) to update my skills so I can be a better coach for you, continue to grow and earn some CEU's for my strength & conditioning (CSCS) and my Athletic Training (ATC) credentials.

Jim Rohn, an accomplished businessman and public speaker, said that during the winters of life, you have to both endure (get comfortable being uncomfortable) and get stronger, wiser and better.

Stronger & Better
Your 2019 training schedule is built for you to get stronger and better.  C'mon, 6 more weeks of training, means if you show up, just by being here you're going to get better and stronger, as showing up is half the battle.  If you try, show up early to get yourself ready to move, and get PR's before you go home, do the math.  You're going to get better.  You're going to get stronger.  There's a reason I say to get 4 sets AND a PR before you go home.  Thats the easiest way to ensure you get sufficient volume to progress forward on TWO BIG ROCK movements (pull ups and push ups).  You could do that for every exercise or the one's that were important to you to progress faster on, but that's not as important as a whole.

Wiser
That's more on you, but when you make time for self-care and yourself, but not too much time because too much time of many things can also be too much, you can't help but learn things, experience side benefits and ripple effects.

Your training this year is going to build your motor.  When life is hardest some people wish for things to be easier, but instead you want to wish to be stronger, better and have more skills.  Your motor combined with your strength, improved self esteem and self confidence will help you to weather the winters of life and move forward.

You'll have more stamina to concentrate.  You'll have a different mojo when it comes to challenging tasks.  You'll see opportunities.  You'll see how to break them down into smaller baby steps.  You'll be able to see the journey required and relate it to the journey of training in a phase or a quarter or for an event.  It'll feel less daunting and more doable.  You'll remember that if you just work the steps, show up and bring a good attitude and effort, just like with training, that in time you'll achieve your goal and accomplish your task.

Last Set, Best Set!
Someone is eating breakfast wearing this shirt and it made me smile, thinking of how the classes organically started replying to my reminder of this phrase.

FYI, the 6:30pm team is currently the best with the mantra buy in!
Schedule
  • Phase 3 and Phase 4 = 7 Weeks Straight of Training
  • Phase 3 = 4 weeks
  • Phase 4 = 3 Weeks
  • P4 Private Measurements, Orientation and Nutrition = Sat, March 16 @ MC
  • We'll have 2 records weeks this phase
  • P3 is a great opportunity to progress on pull ups and push ups
  • See me if you need help with taking advantage of this opportunity.

9am, Friday, March 22, Marisa will coach the last ~ 15min of class, so I can catch a train with Vanessa and take her on a date to see Hamilton in NY.  Please excuse this change.  I tried to be thoughtful by getting a gift for my bride and got on the wrong lottery (NY instead of Boston).

Cardio Minutes
You earned 22 minutes per workout last week, 66 for 3 days and if you're name is Sean Crowley you probably got 25-27 minute per workout.  :-)

Getting stronger, wiser and better,

Coach Mike

p.s.  burn & earn!

p.p.s.  have your RSVP'd for the party on 3/30?
