Hi Friend!
This is the email I sent on Tuesday to members with the sign up.
NY was a success. We stayed at the AC Hotel by Marriot and it was centrally located to Times Square, the Richard Rogers Theater and Penn Station. It's less than a year old, has a great roof deck bar with a nice menu (we had the olives and the veggies and hummus) and an awesome and very popular Tapas restaurant downstairs (fennel salad, half rotisserie chicken, mushroom & arugula flatbread pizza and shrimp in sauce w/ bread for dipping). Plus the gym had all the usual equipment and a foam roller, pull up bars and a cable column, so you could definitely get a BC and/or challenge workout in.
NY as you know has a lot of energy and is very walkable so we got our cardio minutes in. It was definitely fun to be young and temporarily responsibility free and have time together to talk and connect.
Hamilton was and is everything you've heard. It was excellent. If you like history and you like theater and you like musicals, you'll love it. If you love rap especially influences from the 90s and early 2000's, you'll love this. I did not cry, but Vanessa did. It was sad though. I love the spirit of A. Hamiltion. His hustle, scrappiness and determination. I also love his entrepreneurial spirit, risk taking and production. The guy was a content producing workhorse.
Anyways, we're back and excited for the week and next weekend, which brings us to the party.
Pre-Fixe Menu The votes are in. Our audience sure enjoys all kinds of foods and below are the most voted on items for each category.
Appetizers:
1. Grilled Shrimp w/ dill and lemon remoulade x2 2. Crostini w/ Brie, apple and honey x2 3. Tuna Tartare & avocado, served on a lotus chip x1 Apps will be passed while we're mingling. There will be 2 rounds of shrimp and crostini and 1 round of Tuna Tartare.
Entree: 1. Seared Salmon with pearl couscous, earl grey apricots, beech mushrooms, pickled red onions, broccolini, chermoula. 2. Tenderloin Carving Station with asparagus, confit potatoes, au jus 3. Mushroom Risotto These will be served buffet style and if you're like me, your mouth is watering.
Desserts: 1. Mini Creme Brûlée 2. Mini French Macaroons 3. Mini Chocolate Covered Strawberries These desserts are tiny and if I can get them served at the same time as the entrees, you'll be able to enjoy a serving (3 pieces) with your meal like the Alves family does at home, so you can budget space accordingly and take the desserts off the pedestal of power and normalize them more. If you're still craving desserts later, we can make a run to the local Ben & Jerry's for a Vermonster (wink).
Final RSVP (Pre-Pay for Your Meal)! It's $70 / person and that includes, tax, tip, gratuity and service fee. Drinks will be a separate tab, you'll open for yourself.
Please confirm your reservation by choosing 1 of the options above and I look forward to seeing you this week for the start of Q2 / Phase 4 training, our Saturday cardio workout and Saturday evening for those who can attend.
Excited to celebrate with you,
Mike |
