Subject: Exercise Substitutions!

Hi Friend!

Great Wednesday to you!

Today I got asked a great question about exercise substitutions if you're away from CYBBC and you want to still use the workout card.  The most common question I get is about medicine ball substitutions, which makes sense.  Most people don't have medicine balls at home or access to them outside of CYBBC and if they do, most don't have a wall you can throw them at.

Remember Your Why?!
First.  Remember you're in this for the long haul as in you're planning to exercise regularly for the REST OF YOUR LIFE (scary and exciting isn't it?).  When you accept this and do it, you instantly begin changing your identity and yours and everyone else' perception about you.  You are now the fit, strong, athletic, high performing, things come easy to, she can do it, he can do it, etc... person that you and everyone in your world knows, loves, wants to be like and be / hang with.

Now that we got that out of the way, you'll have your default reason why for the rest of this email.

Exercise Substitution for Medicine Balls
1.  Use a gym when you travel that had medicine balls AND walls to throw them at.
*either find a gym next to your travel destination or a hotel with a dope gym
2.  Use a low fee gym when you're not at BC to get your workout in (you know what to do b/c you train with us; you might sometimes need a place to do it).  Remember your why?!
3. Get your own medicine ball and find a wall. (I use the brick walls @ Carson Beach when I do my medicine ball workouts using a wall. I rest by staring at the ocean and day dreaming. Remember your why?!
4. Get a TRX Rip Trainer. This is more suitcase portable and you can do it in your house if you have access to a door.  It's more expensive than a medicine ball, but again, Remember your why and consider this a long term investment into being more bad ass!
5.  Substitute anti-extension for linear moves and anti-rotation for rotational moves.  When you're training at home, on the road, outside, etc...use the below examples in place of medicine balls.  They're fun and challenging.

E.g.#1:  Use body saws x10, linear hand fires x10e or lateral hand fires x10e for linear days (chest pass or overhead throws).
E.g.#2:  Use quadruped opposites x5e, side planks @ wall x5e or mountain climbers x10e for lateral days (side throws or front twists).

Thank you Lauren for posing this question and inspiring this email.

Keep filling up your workout cards, cause it compliments your why!
