Mark Peapell's presentation "The Malton Lankys" - The production of the 430 Lancaster aircraft at Victory Aircraft in Malton, Ontario, was the largest wartime aircraft program in Canada. For a country that was largely agrarian and recovering from the depression, the building of the Lancaster bomber was a huge accomplishment. A workforce of over 9,000, would lay the foundation that would lead to Canada’s first jet airliner, the CF-100 and ultimately the Arrow. Mark’s well illustrated presentation tells the story of building the Canadian Lancaster. A story untold to future generations that involves all Canadian staples, hockey, politics.
