Today is my dad's birthday. He would have been 82. He was such a storyteller and he was a big fan of my fiction.
I have fond memories of him sitting in the hallway between the two bedrooms for us 4 kids and reading aloud from One Thousand and One Nights.
I didn't realize until I was an adult that he was reading from that book. I only remember that every night was a different fantasy story to fall asleep by.

Today is just a short announcement about the workshop I'm teaching Tuesday, April 16, 10am Pacific.
My goal is to help you edit your fiction so that your reader looses themself and becomes the character,
One of the most powerful ways to do that is to use powerful and specific language tailored to how your character experiences the world.
We experience the world through our senses.
But each person sorts and filters the sensory input differently.
And each person makes meaning from that sensory information differently too.
By the time we've finished this workshop I want you to have a draft of your POV character's unique sensory palette and how that affects how they perceive, make meaning, and behave.
Immersive Fiction: Write with the 21 Senses
Date: Tues., April 16, 10am PT/1pm ET
Duration: 45 minutes workshop + 15 minute Q&A
No, that's not a typo! There are more than 5 senses!)
