Timed Writing, Focus, and Imposter Syndrome

June 7, 2019
Oakland, CA

Hi Friend,
Three days ago I decided to create one-minute video tips and share them on Instagram.

Why? Because I want to get out there again as a speaker; because I have stuff to say about creativity and getting to the writing; and three, because I have the means of production at my fingertips.

The first one was on using timed writing to get writing, even if you don't know what to say. That's posted on my blog.

Click here for it or click on the image below.
The second one is about how to focus and the third I posted yesterday is about the imposter syndrome or more specifically for me, how I'm not good enough.

All of the "Creative Life Tip of the Day" go up on Instagram and Facebook. (The'll eventually all go up on YouTube and my blog.)

Sharing even for 1 minute a day like this is good practice, but it's also calls forth in me to be more vulnerable. And hence to feel what some of my entrepreneur friends call a "vulnerability hangover." I just want to hid a bit from the world and feel mopey.

We're not always happy and we're not always seeing the bright side of life.

But one thing's for sure, I can still write, edit, and share when I feel this way.

Whenever you stretch into something new, do you also experience the feeling of wanting to retreat to safe ground?

The best we can do is have compassion for ourselves every step of the way, and don't give up on ourselves or our books or any creative project.
Have a happy and creative week! Happy writing!

Best,
Beth
