Dear Friend,
A few years ago, I was sad because I wasn't yet published. I asked myself what was the difference between my skills and my colleagues who had self-published.
When I was done feeling sad, I realized the difference was that they were writing and going for it -- taking risks, publishing their work.
What was holding me back?
I was afraid of the unknown, afraid of what really going for it would mean.
How can you know the unknown?
You can't.
You need to leap and trust and commit to the process no matter what.
Creativity is a deep and mysterious and beautiful thing.
Can you be all in? Can you commit to your dream of sharing your stories with the world?
It's a scary and risky thing. What if your work is poorly received? Worse, what if no one even notices your book?
But if you are deeply committed to being a published novelist, then that is a risk you need to take.
♥
DIVE DEEP In journal writing, a prompt I often use is "What I really want is..." I use this as many times as necessary to listen in to what I desire. I let myself share mundane and deep desires, silly and serious.
Your Turn: What are you committed to? What you deeply committed to? Look deep, feel deep, and allow your deepest truths to bubble up from the unconscious.
SHARE Hit reply and share your thoughts with me.

Have a Happy and Creative Week!
And thanks for showing up for yourself and doing your creative work!
All our best, Beth & Ezra
PS. Oh, the end of the story! Once I realized that I wanted to risk and commit to the unknown and scary journey of being a romance author, I published 5 romance novellas in 2 years and wrote 4 more novels, 2 of them in my YA fantasy series, the other 2 still unpublished.
And because I committed to my writing more deeply than ever before and wrote more books more quickly than I ever had, I had to develop tools to support this process. That's how I can up with my Plan Your Novel Accordion method that I have for you as a party favor for the party this Saturday! Hope to see you there!
