Dear Friend,

I just crossed a threshold in my life as an author. Today I sent out a proposal to the online app, Tapas. I'd shared about that opportunity here.

It's not that I hadn't sent out queries and proposals before. I have.

It's that this was a YA paranormal romance I'd written over 3 years ago.

I decided about 4 years ago to increase my fiction output; to run with my ideas; to let them blossom on the page; to write the novels inside of me without worrying about the marketplace.

Because artists tend to be ahead of the curve. Because our world may not be ready for our stories, just yet, but when it is, you can pull that story out, dust it off, and send it out to a publisher, editor, or self-publish.

So many authors stop writing their novels barely after they've begun because of perfectionism and concern about the market: "Is this right?" "Is this any good?" "Will people like it?"

But like a seed in a garden, you can't expect your writing to grow into a rose bush overnight.

Nurture your idea, write your novel, and give voice to your visions.

The number one reason to write, and finish, your novels, is that no one else can do that but you. And, the world needs your stories.

Stories by their very nature move us, heal us, and transform us. Lend your voice to our culture by writing and finishing your story.

If you're planning on writing your novel this November -- to nurture your idea into form -- and would like support, then join us in the Write Your Novel Support Group. Our first call is this evening, Tuesday, Nov. 1st, 5:30pm PT/8:30 pm ET. If you miss the first call, it is recorded for all students. Registration closes Friday, Nov. 4th.
