The latest How To Write The Future podcast episode is up!

The Name of the Game is Change, episode 107

Friday, July 5, 2024

Hi Friend,

When I first started dating my now-husband, Ezra Barany, (25 years ago!) I told him that one of the few things I knew about myself was that I would always change.

He said, "Yay! Sign me up!" Or something like that.

Change can be disorienting and scary, and exhilarating.

Change is a fact of life.

I see change like the ebb and flow of the waves. It's gonna happen.

I feel our job is to get in synch with the waves and with the beating of our own heart.

Some ways to do that that I like:

  • Meditation / Contemplation (I like the Triple Flame app.)

  • Exercise (I love walking.)

  • Journaling (Depending on the project, I use Scrivener; Notion; and a Moleskine journal; And I'm not telling you how many paper journals I've collected - lots!)

What are ways that you get in synch with yourself?

I'd love to hear.

On to the podcast...

The Name of the Game is Change

“I want to encourage you to have it rooted in heart. In fact, I bet you, it already is. What you care about is what you’re writing about. So, where is the heart in your work?"

-- Beth Barany
