| | Happy Friday! I can't think of anything original to write that's pithy, insightful, or empowering because I'm recovering from a week of being sick.
So I'm just grateful that I can offer this one inspiring thing.
In a roundabout way, I discovered a lovely podcast episode today that I found so inspiring that I want to share it with all of you.
In which the show creators compiled the best advice from episodes 26-49 into one “Secrets of Writing” episode, with insights from writers and industry professionals for Netflix, Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, SYFY, Emmy-nominated writers, and New York Times bestsellers.
Wonderful short snippets from 24 previous guests of the show.
I found this episode because I was fan-girling (I mean researching) Michelle Lovretta, creator of Killjoys and Lost Girl. I love Killjoys, now in its final season.
I loved what she had to say. When I heard her talk, I understand a bit better why I liked her show. She talks like she writes! Her main point is "they need us" -- the writers.
I also loved "Be nice. Say interesting things." and "Be bold. Make strong choices." and "Read. Read. Read. Write. Write. Write. And go live a life." and "Wear comfortable shoes."
That last one was from Jonathan Frakes, best known for his role as Number One or Commander William Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Anyhoo, take a listen! I hope you enjoy it!
And let me know -- what is your one inspiring thing today?
