Next, Open Your Accordion A Little (Part 2)

Hi Friend,
I'd like to start with a big thank you to Carrie Ann Golden for featuring Ezra and I on her blog with "Q&A with Beth and Ezra Barany about PLAN YOUR NOVEL LIKE A PRO" here:

https://awriteradolescentmuse.wordpress.com/2019/03/18/qa-with-beth-and-ezra-barany-about-plan-your-novel-like-a-pro/.

Last week I wrote about how writing an elevator pitch can be a key brainstorming tool at the start of your novel planning process -- or even if you're stuck somewhere in the middle of the drafting process.

This week I have another tool to share with you -- that of drafting a synopsis.

Don't freak out, I have a cool shortcut for you that will help you write your synopsis in a fun plug-and-play way.

That's right, my friend and critique partner Patricia Simpson has created a wonderful software tool to help you craft your synopsis, called Plot Spinner.

But why do I put synopsis writing as the second step in my story planning tools?

Because, like drafting an elevator pitch, writing one after the story was complete was SO hard. Why not put it first? That way you can put words on the page, so you'll have something to review later.

When I was creating my Plan Your Novel course and looking about for a way to expand the story from one paragraph into several, Patricia told me about her Plot Spinner tool and I was so grateful.

Even if you're not sure what you're story is about, the questions the Plot Spinner tool asks you will get you thinking about the main relationships in your story and how your characters change because of the other and in relationship to your theme or issue.
