Nanowrimo is Coming! Starts Tomorrow! What's Your Plan?

In this email:
-- Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) is fun together, and we'll be offering a support group to our community. Check it out here.

31 October 2017
Oakland, CA

Hi Friend,

Will you be doing Nanowrimo (Nano for short) starting tomorrow? Hit reply and let me know.

Even if you're not doing Nano, and I know it's not everyone's jam, what is your writing plan for November?

I find that when we set our attention on a project, it's helpful to slip into a daydream about what it will be like. The how's, what's, why's, when's, and with whom...

Do you fancy writing alone in silence in a corner of your home?
Do you like writing in a bustling cafe?
Do you like writing in your car? (One of my students does!)

Do you write primarily on weekends or fit time in during the week?

Visualizing all the details of your writing -- how it feels, what the sounds are around you, the evocative smells that bring in your muse, the taste of your favorite beverage -- these details ground you in the act of writing and make the experience real, rich, and full of power.

What does your writing space look like, smell like, sound like, feel like, taste like?

Hit reply and let me know. And let me know if you're doing nano too, so I can cheer you on.

As I mentioned in previous messages, I'm a Nanowrimo rebel and will be editing a novel, and, I just decided, dabbling on a TV script. (Because I need the excitement of creating something new without the stress of a word count.)

If you're thinking about writing your novel during Nanowrimo, and you'd like to be in a community of like-minded writers, I recommend checking out all the Nanowrimo site and your Nano local community has to offer.

For those who are new to the global phenomenonNanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month, where people aim to write 50,000 words in the month of November. A free non-profit guides you every step of the way.

Something New for Writing Teachers and Coaches:

I know I have fellow writing teachers and coaches on this list. Hi! :)

I'm looking for like-minded colleagues who would like to be successful together.

I’ll be doing a list builder giveaway campaign for writing teachers and coaches, launching during the Christmas/Chanukah/New Years season. This is a beta project. If it goes well, I’ll may do several more next year.

How it works: Writing teachers/coaches pay a small fee and offer up a digital or physical product on the theme to help writers to give away as a prize.

The goal of this project: to build our list with the right audience, potential students and clients who like what we offer and want our help.

Theme for the beta launch: Tools to Develop Characters and Character Arcs

If you’re interested in participating and want more information, hit reply and let me know. Thanks! May be we all prosper together!

Yes, please do forward this to other people you think would be a good fit, or just let me know who they are, and I'll reach out.
