How to Edit Flashbacks + Upcoming Workshops and Bootcamps

March 9, 2018
Oakland, CA

Hi Friend,

Currently I’m teaching Edit Your Novel Intensive and received a great question from a student.

She wanted an example of how to fixing a flashback. So I put out the call to my current and former students and clients and received four 1-page flashbacks to edit.

I edited them, focusing on the entry to and exit from flashbacks, as well as their purpose, what the authors do well and what I’d like to see more of.

You can see the whole free lesson here, as part of the Introduction to the Group Coaching Program:

(You’ll need to create a free account.)

You can watch the intro video here on my blog:

Upcoming Workshops and Bootcamps

After several years of mostly teaching online, I'm now doing more in person events and workshops. I'm excited to teach and coach in-person -- my favorite way to connect with writers. The list of upcoming events is below...

I want to highlight one event I'll be doing this fall, South Tahoe Writing Boot Camps, Sept. 23-Oct. 3, because the organizer is looking to reserve the location by the end of March.

So if coming to a 2-day or 3-day writing boot camp in the beautiful South Tahoe area is your cup of tea, check out this event: https://www.livewritethrive.com/tahoe-boot-camps/.

I'll be assisting in both the Plotting Madness Boot Camp and Scene Structure Boot Camp, run by author, editor and writing coach, C.S. Lakin. In between these will be a 2-day Self-Publishing Boot Camp with one of the industry’s leading expert, Carla King.

Sign up for just one, or get a discount for all three and spend 10 days in a beautiful setting working on your creativity.
