I hope you had a wonderful Christmas (or Hanukkah or Solstice!)

Over here at the Barany creative household, we're setting out for a day of writing and then Rogue One!

But before we do, I wanted to remind you about our upcoming course to help you edit your novel starting January 3, 2017. Registration closes tomorrow: Wednesday, December 28. 9pm PT.

I want to share with you a bit of my understanding of the creative process.

Something I realized about ten years when I was first starting my business is that creativity happens on a continuum.

I used to feel tied up in knots inside when I wasn't writing and when I didn't know what to say and even what I intended to say in my story.

But then I realized that not knowing was part of the creative process.

It is part of the getting ready to get ready.

It's included inside the circle called "this is my creative process and my way of getting ready" to write or edit or market or publish.

And if I forget that this angst of "I don't know what I'm doing. I can't write" mental tape, Ezra and other good friends remind me that the angst of not knowing happens at the beginning of all my creative projects. 

This self-doubt and lack of confidence happens when I transition from writing first draft to editing that draft.

Like I'm about to do in January. 

I notice I want to shy away from this manuscript that I wrote last year.

Yet I'm curious.

I'm curious to see what I wrote. I'm curious to see what the book is.

What did my subconscious already put in there that's working?

What did I write that isn't clear and is demanding clarity, emotion, and a compelling drive forward?
